The value of being on page 1 of Google and good quality SEO

We’ve all heard the term ‘SEO’ and the importance about climbing up google rankings but what are the real benefits of being on the coveted ‘page 1 of Google’ ?

Firstly lets clear up the differences between PPC and Organic SEO results. PPC (Paid Per Click advertising) are the first three results you will normally see when entering information on a page. The rest of the results are called ‘organic’ and these are none paid organically generated links based on large number of SEO factors – Google lists these organic results 10 returns at a time.

Findings from the online ad network Chitika show some surprising results from rank 1 through to 10.

Google Page 1 Organic Ranking Results

Below is a table showing the click thru rate (CTR) differences between positions 1 and 10

Below the table shows the differences page by page

• A website with the first position contributed to 33% of the search traffic
• Sites listed on the first Google search results page generate 92% of all traffic from an average search
• When moving from page one to two, the traffic dropped by 95%, and by 78% and 58% for the subsequent pages[/box]

Of course, achieving strong organic page listing is only one factor in the effective marketing of your brand, but effective SEO does play an important role in delivering your brand message to a wider audience.
